(TNND) — Ben Cohen, the 74-year-old co-founder of Ben & Jerry’s, was arrested on Wednesday during a protest at Capitol Hill.
Cohen, along with six others, was taken into custody for “crowding, obstructing or incommoding,” according to Capitol Police. The protest occurred during Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s testimony and was aimed at criticizing the United States’ response to the Israel-Hamas conflict in Gaza.
Cohen, known for his company’s history of corporate political activism, shared a video of the incident on his X account.
In the video, Cohen said, “I told Congress they’re killing poor kids in Gaza by buying bombs, and they’re paying for it by kicking poor kids off Medicaid in the US.”
Ben & Jerry’s has not issued an official response to Cohen’s arrest.
